The Vatican has urged all Catholics to stop donating money to Amnesty International.

Why you might ask, would the Catholic Church do such a thing? Have amnesty been embezzling charitable donations? Have they been found guilty of wide scale child abuse?

No, don’t be silly. Amnesty have simply stated that they are in “support of abortion for women when their health is in danger or human rights are violated, especially in cases of rape or incest.”

Well bugger me senseless vicar.

Because of a single policy change you want to undermine all the other works that Amnesty undertake to alleviate the misery that millions of people suffer each year? No discussion I suppose? No compromise to be found?

You make me sick with your hypocrisy and superiority complex.

Ms Gilmore, Amnesty’s Deputy Secatary General says:

“We are saying broadly that to criminalise women’s management of their sexual reproductive right is the wrong answer.

“The Catholic Church, through a misrepresented account of our position on selective aspects of abortion, is placing in peril work on human rights,”

How Christian, holding a charity to ransom because they believe that a policy of criminalized women for making a personal choice might not be the best way to go.

Amnesty chairman Paolo Pobbiati insisted its new position had been misinterpreted by the cardinal:

“It was partly inspired by our experience in Africa where soldiers rape women in communities they attack to force them to have their children. We also believe women who have had abortions should benefit from medical care regardless of the reason for the abortion.”

How evil of Amnesty to take such a stand. ????? Uh huh.

Those wacky funsters at the Vatican are at it again - this time they’re misrepresenting Amnesty’s new policy regarding abortion and instructing Catholics not to support the organisation. Amnesty’s position is that women who are pregn…
